There are almost 3 times as many cell phones in the world then computers. So it’s no surprise that Google sees mobile search as it’s major opportunity for revenue growth. Since Google makes most of its money by selling search based advertising, all they need to do is increase the number of people that search.

The interesting thing about cell phone search is that it’s often used for different reasons than normal search. For example, someone might with a cell phone is more likely to be searching for information relevant to being on the road in some particular place. Thus, their searches are more likely to be seeking local information.

At SeaWaves, we are aggressively trying to identify ways that we can get involved in local mobile search, and our plans are to utilize our Jersey Shore website site as testing ground.

One of my favorite blogs that we run here at SeaWaves is called One Big Health Nut. From the summer of 2007 to the summer of 2008 it was updated daily with really interesting health facts.

For whatever reason, Google never really fell in love with the site. The writer was a health expert, who knew what she was talking about. Articles were on topics ranging from the dangers of Tilapia (fish) to 10 things to keep your heart healthy.

I always found myself learning something new whenever I read that blog. And while the blog will continue in some form in the future, I don’t think it ever really reached it’s true potential.

There are a number of reasons to explain this, but perhaps best of all is that the site never accumulated a nice body of natural links. Unfortunately, natural link building doesn’t always happen naturally, even with good content.

The NFL is clearly America’s sport, and as such, we just couldn’t resist getting into the game and taking a stab at producing a quality blog for this massive niche. Brian is a great writer, clearly knows his stuff, and will certainly turn the blog into a great resource for NFL football fans across the world.

Our dog site The Dog Guide is hosting a monthly dog photo contest. Each month we pick the top 3 submission to our dog photo contest and award a $30 $20 and $10 prize.

Ever since we acquired The Dog Guide we’ve been very happy with the progress the site has made. Not only have we hired an editor of the site, but we have also started taking the steps to move the site to the next level. Part of that plan is this contest. Future plans that are already in the works include the development of online dog video tutorials. So stayed tuned for great things.

But in the meantime!!! If you have a dog, and take lots of digital photos, why not submit them to our dog photo contest! You might even win!

Valarie’s is one of the mainstay restaurants that fuels us here at SeaWaves so we were especially glad to design the website. Our greatest hope in starting this project was to capture the friendly and energetic personality of the restaurant’s owner, Valarie. We think we got it just right. Take a look and we think you’ll like what you see.

After three hard months of development, we are pleased to be able to announce the BETA launch of the new Eatonweb Blog Directory. The project was a lot of fun, especially working with maestro designer Mr. Thord Hedengren.

Eatonweb is the oldest blog directory on the planet. Yep. It was the first one. So the honor of working on a sight with such prestige was a bit daunting.

And after much sweat and blood, we’re proud of what we’ve achieved. It was our biggest development project yet, and while there’s still some tweaking to do, we’re happy with the result.

The idea behind the directory’s “resurrection” was to make a blog directory that matters. There are thousands of directories out there. We wanted to do something different.

We came up with the idea of creating a proprietary blog metric that measures 2 primary aspects of each blog in the directory. First, we measure the perceived influence and strength of each blog . Then, we track the strength over time and we call it a momentum metric.

Why does this matter? Well, for one, it allows blog owners to track the growth or decline of their own blogs. But it also offers blog buyers/sellers a concrete way to evaluate the health of a blog. Further, it allows us to list the most “healthy” blogs first – in other words, it rewards strong, growing sites.

So we’ve set out to create a blog directory that matters, and again, we’re still tweaking the system, but overall, we’re very happy with what we’ve produced!

Creating things is one of the greatest joys in life!
